Were you one of the 40,000 people on the Central Coast last week enjoying the New Year’s Eve Fireworks? If you were at Gosford Waterfront you may have seen one of the SkyMedia drones soaring above. It was an honour to be asked by Gosford Council to be the official aerial videographers for the Gosford New Year celebrations and we’re thrilled to share our video with you
It was a great evening in Gosford which kicked-off with the Mariners playing Wellington Phoenix at the Central Coast Stadium, and live entertainment and food stalls on the Central Coast Leagues Club Field, right by the waterfront.
SkyMedia were in huge demand on the night, as we were also booked to film the fantastic INXS tribute band, Live Baby Live! After we’d got all the footage we needed of the band, we rushed over to The Coast Bar & Restaurant (formerly known as Iguana Joe’s), who’d very kindly given us permission to film from their wharf. This allowed us to take off and land safely away from the thousands of people stood ready to watch the fireworks.
You can see more of our work on our showreel.
We just had time to set up and make a few checks before the fireworks began at 9:15. This year the fireworks took place slightly further south than previous years, which enabled us to get some great footage of the fireworks, with the stadium and city of Gosford in the background. With the reflections of the fireworks and fairground in the water we’re really pleased with how the video turned out.
With our night rating, we’ve been commissioned to film a few large firework events – there’s nothing quite like the excitement of capturing a live event like this from the sky.
